To avoid being matched with a teammate in Alfy, add them to your Don't pair me with list. It's completely confidential: nobody is told, not even admins. You can list up to 20 teammates, and the list applies to every Alfy program you're in.

Add teammates in Slack#

  1. Go to Alfy's Home tab and find the ⭐ Miscellaneous section.
  2. Click 🙅 Don't pair me with.
  3. Under Teammates you'd rather not be matched with, select the people.
  4. Click Save.

Add teammates in Microsoft Teams#

  1. Type settings to Alfy and click ⚙️ Open settings.
  2. In the 🙅 Don't pair me with section, click ✏️ Edit list.
  3. Type the start of a first or last name and select each person.
  4. Click Save.

Add teammates in the web dashboard#

  1. Open your personal settings in the web dashboard.
  2. In the Don't pair me with section, click Select teammates and pick the people.
  3. Click Save. To undo your changes before saving, click Discard changes.

To remove someone, take them off the list and save.

How it works#

  • Both ways: if you list a teammate, Alfy won't pair you with them, and won't pair them with you either.
  • Every program, every group size: the list follows you across all your Alfy programs.
  • Best effort, never left out: Alfy keeps you apart whenever there's another way to make the groups. In a very small program where no other split exists, you may still be grouped together. Nobody is ever dropped from a round because of the list.
  • Private: only you can see your list. Admins and the people on it are never told.
  • One list for Slack, Teams and the web: someone on your list who isn't on the platform you're using stays on it.
