Install Alfy in Microsoft Teams

You install Alfy, the BuddiesHR random coffee app for Microsoft Teams, by adding it to a channel or group chat from the Teams store. Adding it is also your sign-up: your BuddiesHR account is created automatically and you become an Alfy admin.

Step 1: Find Alfy in the Teams store#

In Teams, open the store, search for "Alfy" and click Add. You can also start from Alfy's Microsoft listing.

If your organization requires it, a Teams admin may need to approve Alfy first.

Step 2: Choose a channel or group chat#

Pick the team channel or group chat whose members Alfy should match.

Important note: Alfy doesn't post anything in the channel when you add it.

Step 3: Create your first program#

Alfy sends you a personal message saying it just joined the channel, with a 🚀 Create a program button. Click it to create a program from Teams.

If you open a personal chat with Alfy, it sends a welcome card that explains how it works. When available, its ➕ Add Alfy to a channel button opens Teams' own picker to add Alfy to more channels.

Add Alfy to more channels#

Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each channel or group chat. Alfy sends you a message saying it was just added, so you can create a program there too. Each channel or group chat can have one program created from Teams.

Who becomes an admin#

The person who adds Alfy to a channel or group chat becomes an Alfy admin. Other admins can be added from the web dashboard.
