Install Alfy in Slack
Add Alfy, the BuddiesHR random coffee app, to your Slack workspace in about 30 seconds, then set up your first program in the web dashboard.
To install Alfy, the BuddiesHR random coffee app for Slack, click Add to Slack, pick your workspace and click Allow. It takes about 30 seconds and doesn't notify anyone: Alfy only messages people once you create a program. Using Microsoft Teams? See install Alfy in Microsoft Teams.
Step 1: Click Add to Slack#
Start from whichever is easiest:
- From the BuddiesHR website: go to the Get started page and click
Add to Slackon the Alfy card, or clickAdd to Slackon the Alfy page. - From the Slack App Directory: open Alfy in the Slack App Directory and click
Add to Slack.

Step 2: Select the right workspace#
Slack shows the workspace Alfy will be installed in at the top-right of the page. Change it there if needed.

Step 3: Click Allow#
Review the permissions Alfy needs, then click Allow.

Step 4: Set up your first program#
Slack sends you to the Alfy web dashboard, already signed in, on the Setup Alfy page. Follow create your first program.

If Alfy already has a program in your workspace, you land on the admin settings instead.
Who becomes an admin#
The person who installs Alfy becomes an Alfy admin. Slack workspace admins and owners are not automatically Alfy admins. To add more admins, see add or remove an admin.
Troubleshooting#
I don't have permission to install Alfy#
If your workspace only lets App Managers install apps, Slack shows a Request to install form instead of the Allow button. Add a short message for your App Managers and click Submit.
Once an App Manager approves the request, Slackbot sends you a message. Go back to Step 1 to finish the installation.
