In Microsoft TeamsSmall enough to feel light.
Deep enough to rely on.
Four kinds of connection,
one tiny bot.
Same serendipity. Less everything else.
Before you ask.
What is Alfy?+
Alfy is the random coffee app from BuddiesHR. It pairs people from your company for a short, friendly chat on a cadence you choose, inside Slack (Microsoft Teams coming soon). Free under 10 users, $1/user/month after that, and setup takes about 3 minutes.
What if I’m traveling or slammed that week?+
Snooze a round in one click and Alfy remembers and re-includes you next time. And if your calendar is linked, you’re automatically opted out when you’re OOO. No guilt, no streak to break.
Is there an AI matching "brain"?+
No. It’s weighted randomness that avoids same-team repeats and balances seniority. We prefer the serendipity over a black box.
Can I see who I’ve already met?+
Yes. Your match history lives in your Alfy web tab, so you never get the same pairing twice in a row.
Does it work for fully-remote teams?+
Especially well. Alfy schedules across time zones and drops a calendar invite so nobody has to chase overlap.
How is this different from Donut?+
Same core idea, but Alfy schedules for you, costs $1/user/month, and is free under 10 people. It runs natively in Slack today, with Microsoft Teams coming soon.
Can I manually update the groups?+
Yes, you can change groups before they’re posted and manually snooze or opt-out people.
Do we need to manage it?+
No. After a 3-minute setup, Alfy runs itself. Most admins forget it’s on until someone thanks them for it.
