Is Clappy free? Free plan, trial and subscription
Clappy is free in Slack workspaces under 10 users. From 10 users, a 30-day free trial starts, then a subscription is needed to keep giving claps.
Clappy, the BuddiesHR kudos app for Slack, is free for workspaces with fewer than 10 users. From 10 users, workspaces get a 30-day free trial, then need a subscription to keep giving claps. For prices, see BuddiesHR pricing, free plan and trial.
When Clappy is free#
Clappy is free, with no time limit, while fewer than 10 people use it.
Clappy counts the people it's switched on for: by default, the members of your Slack workspace. Guests, bots and deactivated accounts don't count.
When the free trial starts#
The 30-day trial starts automatically when Clappy reaches 10 users, either when you install it or later when people join. If you drop back below 10 users, the trial is cleared.
Workspaces covered by a BuddiesHR subscription that includes Clappy skip the trial.
Follow the trial#
During the trial, admins see a banner:
- at the top of Clappy's Home tab in Slack, such as "⏳ 12 days remaining in your free trial.", with
💳 SubscribeandView pricingbuttons, - at the top of Clappy in the BuddiesHR web dashboard, "You are currently on a free trial. (12 days remaining)", with a
View upgrade optionsbutton.
What happens when the trial ends#
The banners change to "⚠️ Your free trial has expired. Subscribe to keep using this app." in Slack, and "Your free trial has expired" in the web dashboard, where everyone sees it. Until someone subscribes:
- nobody can give claps or use
Clap this too 👏: people see aFree trial expiredwindow asking them to contact a workspace admin, - admins can't give extra claps,
- Appreciation Day and other scheduled reminders stop,
- the Home tab, the web dashboard and rewards keep working.

If your subscription ends#
When a subscription ends and Clappy has 10 users or more, it works as if the free trial had just expired: nobody can give claps until an admin subscribes again. Your settings and history are kept.
