Remove someone from the Linky org chart

Linky admins can take a person off the org chart, for example when they leave, and add them back later. Here's what happens to their team and profile.

In Linky, the BuddiesHR org chart app for Slack, you remove someone from the chart from their profile, for example when they leave. Slack members are excluded rather than deleted, so you can add them back later. You need to be a Linky admin.

Step 1: Open the person's profile#

Open the org chart in Admin mode and click the person's picture or name.

Step 2: Remove them#

In the Profile panel, click ⋮ at the top right, then Remove from chart. Confirm with Yes, remove.

What happens next#

  • The person disappears from the chart and is marked as excluded. Linky won't suggest adding them back and won't ask them to fill in their profile.
  • Their direct reports move up one level and now report to the removed person's manager. If the removed person was at the top, their reports move to the top.
  • The profile values typed in Linky for them are deleted with their card.
  • Someone added by hand has no Slack account to exclude: removing them deletes them for good.

Add someone back#

Click ⋮ in the action bar, then Show Excluded users. Find the person under Users already in the Org Chart + Excluded, click Add back and pick their manager. See place people on the org chart.
