Why wasn't my Pulsy poll posted in the channel?

What to do when Pulsy can't post your poll in Slack, because of a private channel without Pulsy or a channel that was archived, deleted or restricted.

Pulsy, the BuddiesHR poll app for Slack, can't post a poll in a private channel it hasn't been invited to, or in a channel that was deleted, archived or restricted. Public channels are fine: Pulsy joins them on its own. Pulsy tells you when a poll can't be posted.

When you create the poll#

If you pick a private channel Pulsy isn't in, the Create poll window shows: "Pulsy has not been added to this private channel yet. Please use the "/invite @Pulsy" command to add it, and then try again!"

Type /invite @Pulsy in the channel, then create the poll again.

When a posted, scheduled or recurring poll fails#

If Pulsy can't post a poll when it goes out, for example a scheduled or recurring one, it sends the poll's creator a direct message (or the Pulsy admins, if it can't reach the creator). The message starts with "Pulsy tried to post your poll", names the channel and says why:

  • Pulsy isn't a member of the channel and couldn't join it.
  • The channel was deleted or archived.
  • Only some members are allowed to post in the channel.

The poll is then open, but nobody can see it. Fix the channel (invite Pulsy, or ask a channel manager to let it post), then close the poll and create it again. Click 📊 View my polls in the message to find it.

For a recurring poll, also pick another channel in its recurrence settings, otherwise the next polls won't be posted either. See manage a poll you created.
