Create a poll in Slack with Pulsy
Create a Pulsy poll in Slack with /pulsy poll, /poll, a shortcut or the Home tab, then set choices, anonymity, scheduling, recurrence and auto-close.
SlackUpdated Oct 5, 20263 min readA Pulsy poll asks your team one or more quick questions in a Slack channel and shows the votes in real time. Anyone in the workspace can create a poll, in Slack only, by typing /pulsy poll or /poll.
Step 1: Open the poll creation form#
Use whichever is handiest:
- Type
/pulsy pollor/pollin any Slack conversation. The poll is posted in that conversation by default. - Click
➕ Create pollin the📊 Pollssection of Pulsy's Home tab. - Use Pulsy's "Create a poll" shortcut from Slack's shortcuts menu.
Step 2: Write your questions#
In the Create poll window:
- Pick the channel in
Select channel. - Type your question in
Write your question, up to 500 characters. - Type the choices in
Enter choices below, one per line, up to 150 characters each. Or pick one of the 8Pre-fill templates: 1 → 5, 1 → 10, Yes / No, Agree / Disagree, Monday → Friday, More often → Less often, Very important → Very unimportant, Very useful → Not useful. - Check the options you need:
Allow multiple votes: people can pick several choices.Audience can add choices: people can add their own choice. You can then leave the choices empty for an open-ended question.Order results by most votes
- Click
Add questionto ask more than one question in the same poll.
To post in a private channel, invite Pulsy first. See can Pulsy be added to private channels?.
Step 3: Customize the poll settings#
The summary line at the bottom shows the current settings, for example "Sending now • No repeat • Not anonymous • Close after 2 week(s) • No mention". Click Settings to change them, then Save.

Step 4: Click Create poll#
Click Create poll. Your poll is posted, and results update as people vote. It closes automatically at the end of the close period.
If you picked a frequency, the first poll goes out now (or on the scheduled date) and Pulsy posts a new poll at each recurrence.
