Add public holidays to Billy in Slack

In Slack, Billy admins add public holidays to a channel so Billy treats them like weekend days and moves the celebrations to the working day before or after. Billy doesn't announce the holidays themselves. Public holidays aren't available in Microsoft Teams.

Before you start#

Public holidays are only used when, in the channel settings:

• What announcement frequency should Billy use? is Post on the actual day. Otherwise the menu entry is hidden.
• When would you like to celebrate events on weekends / public holidays? is Move to Friday / Before or Move to Monday / After.

Examples: how Billy handles weekends, public holidays and grouped posts.

Step 1: Open the public holidays page#

In the admin settings, open the ⋯ menu of the channel and select Manage public holidays.

Step 2: Click Add#

On the 🗓️ Manage public holidays page, pick the channel if Billy is in several, then click ➕ Add.

Step 3: Pick the date and click Add#

In the Add public holiday window, pick the Date, add an optional Description (for example "Christmas"), then click Add.

Delete a public holiday#

Use the Upcoming and Past filters to find it, click Delete and confirm.
